The annual Global Marijuana March is this Saturday, May 2nd. 263 cities worldwide are participating in this demonstration against the drug war. The March starts at 2pm at the Vancouver Art Gallery (Georgia St and Howe St) and proceeds to the West side of the new Vancouver Convention Centre (Thurlow and Cordova). This year's March is very important, as it happens while the Liberal Party of Canada meets for their national convention to debate policy options and acclaim Michael Ignatieff as their new leader. The Liberal party has signaled that they will support Bill C-15 imposing a mandatory minimum sentence of six months in jail for people growing a single cannabis plant. We will be protesting this escalation in Canada's War on Drugs just meters away from the convention floor, let's make sure they can hear us inside! If an election were held today, Mr Ignatieff would be the Prime Minister of Canada. As such, is is very important that anyone who opposes the War on Drugs attend this march and protest. If you can't make the march, meet us on the west side of the new Convention Centre and help send a message to the Liberal Party of Canada that we will not support them if they support the failed War on Drugs.
