CSSDP's national conference is Canada's only national drug policy reform conference. The CSSDP conferences are a mix of panels, workshops, spaces to connect, and more to bring together youth, students, activists, service providers, academic experts, and political leaders from across Canada. The conference aims to address emerging issues in drug policy, such as the omnibus legislation Bill C-10 and mandatory sentencing, the impacts of the recent Supreme Court decision regarding Insite, and emerging changes to Canada's cannabis laws, and more. The conference is an important act of youth engagement, education and empowerment. There are workshops for sharing a variety of research and activism skills. The CSSDP annual general meeting is held during the conference, where the new board of directors is elected, and strategizing discussions are held. Our Student Poster Presentation provides an opportunity for students to present and receive feedback on their research. The 'Progress not Prisons' CSSDP national conference needs your support. CSSDP depends on the support of individuals in order to make the conference as exciting and inclusive as possible. CSSDP fundraises in order to keep the registration fee as low as possible, and also to provide travel scholarships for youth and students coming from across Canada. Among the attendees will be a large number of students from outside of Calgary who will require travel assistance. Aside from donating, there are many other ways to support the conference. You can distribute the conference callouts and posters. There may be in-kind donations, such as food, space to host an evening event in, items to giveaway at the conference. There will be info tables where supporting organizations can display and chat with attendees. As well, individuals and organizations who contribute to the conference will be recognized in our materials and during the conference for contributing to this important event.
