Of particular concern regarding the Conservative's Anti Drug Strategy is Bill C-26, which proposes mandatory minimum sentences for drug offenders. It is a type of policy that has been proven to fail in the US and elsewhere in the world, but it managed to pass the second reading in the House of Commons. It was voted for by the Conservatives and the Liberals, although the Liberals said they would not vote in favor of the Bill unless major amendments were made. Of course, Bill C-26 was swept off the table when the election was called, but may resurface in the same or new form when a new House of Commons is in Office.

Note: Below are the responses that received from candidates offices. Where you see a (*) beside a candidate's name, they have submitted their own responses. Either their party didn't submit an official response, or they submitted a response that differed in some way from their party's official response. Where there is no (*) you will be taken to the official response for the party the candidate represents.

Would the candidate support or oppose Bill C-26, a Conservative Bill introducing mandatory minimum penalties for drug offenses? Would the candidate support the continued operation of Insite, Vancouver's supervised injection clinic? Does the candidate believe that marijuana for recreational use should remain illegal; be decriminalized; or be legalized?
